| We were trained by the manufacturer of our scissor and clipper blade sharpening machine. Jim, the owner of this company, in his early years as a sharpener he was unable to get repeat business. He couldn't figure out why. He had followed every step of the training program that he had purchased from another sharpener manufacturer, but still his repeat business was not there. Jim called on an old barber shop owner and he gave him a pair of his shears to sharpen. Up front he let Jim know that no one has been able to sharpen his shears to his satisfaction. Jim was determined to get this mans business, so he spent several hours putting the best possible edge on these scissors and adjusted them to what he thought was perfection. Proudly, the next day Jim took the scissors back to the old barber. He immediately took the shears and tested them. Much to Jim's disappointment the old barber told him, no one can make shears SING anymore. That was Jim's clue that the old barber was not impressed with his sharpening. Jim left in frustration, returned to his shop and for days tried different methods of sharpening to get Shears to Sing. After many nights of frustration Jim tried something that went against everything he had been taught. He worked on this process for days and finally was able to understand what the old barber was talking about. Jim, again returned to the old barber's shop and handed the scissors to him. The old barber tested the scissors and smiled. He then said "You got it". Almost everyone he contacts becomes a loyal customer and PRAISES him on how their shears now cut. Now he has had more work than he can handle and YES he has all of the repeat business he had dreamed about. This is the process we use on all our scissor sharpening.
